Abby and Trevor got engaged in Pittsburgh last spring and you may recall their frigid, rainy day Oakland engagement session a few months back! Thankfully, we were blessed with much better weather for their December wedding day. It may have still be frigid, but the winter light was glorious!
They tied the knot in the church Abby's family attends and man is it beautiful!
One of our favorite parts about this day were Abby and Trevor's priorities. First of all, something they felt very strongly about was WHO would be marrying them. Since moving to Pittsburgh, they have gotten plugged into Northway Christian Community in Oakland and have really hit it off with the pastor there. They knew it was worth it to bring him out to Indiana for him to orchestrate their "I Do's". And we couldn't agree more. This pastor also went through their premarital counseling with them, and there is truly something special about being married by someone who knows you, cares about you, and is vested in your marriage well beyond the wedding day.
Secondly, when asked what they were each most looking forward to on their day, their answers were:
Abby: The exchange of vows and rings
Trevor: Exchange of vows, committing my life to Abby
We love this so much! It was so apparent how intentional they were about the parts of the day that matter the most and long outlast the small details of the day. (but they also had the most spectacular details: Some of the most beautiful flowers and cake we've ever seen!)
The other standout moment to us was how they orchestrated their first look. They wrote one another letters and started the moment by sharing personal, hand written notes without seeing one another. After finishing these emotional letters, Trevor was able to see his bride for the first time. They requested that after that reveal, they have a few minutes to themselves to pray and talk before proceeding with the day. We've rarely seen it that a couple allots time to step away from the (beautiful) chaos and share a special moment for just the two of them. No cameras. No people. And it was so evident how important and special that time is on a day that can so easily just FLY.
We are so honored to have captured these moments and spent the day among Abby and Trevor's amazing family and friends. We are so inspired by the love these two share and the intentionality that went into their day - particularly the quiet moments that matter most.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Horst!! Enjoy this recap of their romantic, laid back, winter wedding day!
