Matt and Kara grew up going to the same small school. Matt was a year ahead of Kara, and throughout all of their school years, they never had a relationship that was any more than acquaintances. They graduated and each attended different colleges and grad schools. It wasn't until AFTER finishing their higher educations that they both found themselves back home. Their paths crossed one night out at a bar catching up with old friends, and that was it!
They have since built a life together south of Pittsburgh. They share a love for coffee and long walks - bonus if they can combine the two (Their favorite is the long walk to from their home to their favorite coffee spot in the South Hills!) They also have a mutual affection for traveling and love exploring new places together. Last year, they found themselves in New York City for the first time, and amidst the explorations (and on the very last day of their trip), Matt surprised Kara by asking her to be his wife!
They both knew they wanted their marriage to begin in the place they are from - so they will tie the knot next summer in their hometown of Somerset, Pa! But they also love Pittsburgh, so for their engagement photos, they wanted to incorporate their life in the city! Kara actually works at AGH and frequents Allegheny Commons - so it was the perfect backdrop for their session!
It just so happened to be during the October heat wave, but these two were great sports as we ran around our favorite city documenting their beautiful love. Congratulations, Matt & Kara! You guys are amazing and we cannot wait to capture your celebration in June at the place your story began! <3
