Victoria and David met in college at Temple University through mutual friends and mutual classes. As Victoria mentioned in her vows, she had a crush on him early on, but he had no clue. It may have taken a little persistence on her part, but the effort paid off.
David proposed on New Years Eve and 2014 was spent preparing for their wedding day. They opted for a rustic barn wedding at Gillbrook Farms in beautiful Warriors Path, Pennsylvania. Although the weather called for showers all day, the sun triumphed, allowing the ceremony and cocktail hour to be outdoors on the scenic property.
Victoria put the ‘do’ in do it yourself as she had the ultimate DIY wedding. She quite literally did just about everything. Just a few of the stand out projects you will see in their highlight video include:
Terrarium centerpieces: Victoria has a love for terrariums, and a gift for making them, which made them a perfect fit for the table centerpieces! (She handmade 20+ terrariums!)
Dinner Plates: All of the dinner dishes were beautiful antique china collected from flea markets and yard sales and mix matched to provide the perfect effect.
Veil: She bought different lace and sewed them together to create her own veil.
Bridesmaids dresses: Victoria’s mom is a gifted seamstress and she handmade all of the bridesmaid, and flowergirl, dresses! This was no small feat- creating 7 dresses from scratch!
Cakes: Victoria and David had several cakes that were all handmade by Victoria (I still don’t know how she pulled this off- but they certainly were both beautiful, and delicious! And perfect for smashing her groom in the face :)
Beverages: The beer was brewed by the bride and groom. They also planted a hops tree during their ceremony to incorporate into future home brewed beverages J
A choreographed first dance: Literally the most incredible dance we’ve ever seen.
In addition to the above (of which I’m sure I missed a number of projects), each of the bride and groom’s families played a pivotal role in allowing the day to be so perfect. David and Victoria were married by David’s father who officiated the beautiful ceremony. Victoria’s sisters, who are incredibly talented musicians, sang during the ceremony. They happened to belt out the lyrics “I’ll be your rainy day lover” just as it began to drizzle. Oh- and the best part? David and Victoria wrote their own vows! When David told Victoria just how privileged he was to be marrying her, and how he loved her “from her head down to her size 5 feet”, he lost it, and so did everyone else.
