In life, it can feel like you have to choose between a successful dream career, and deep, meaningful relationships. But not Sara and Matt. Somehow these two manage to thrive in both arenas. They are each wildly intelligent, extremely hard working and passionate. They are also loyal, funny, kind and generous. Those closest to them said it best: They are incredible examples and offer much to learn from. They are also present, engaged, great listeners, and the best friends you could have. This gorgeous pair certainly sets a high bar.
Both Sara and Matt hail from the South Hills of Pittsburgh, but it wasn't until a super bowl party a few years ago that their paths actually crossed. It took reconnecting online months later to prompt a first date. From that first date at DiAnoia's, they have been inseparable ever since.Following that first outing together, they shared their first kiss outside of Matt's apartment building.
When it came time for the proposal, Matt wanted it to be meaningful and drew on that monumental night for inspiration. He orchestrated the events of the evening so they would find themselves back in that very same spot (along with a stealthy hidden friend to capture the moment). His strange actions and demeanor that evening made Sarah a little suspicious that something was going on. But he pulled it off, and asked Sara to be his wife in the exact same spot their lips first met just a few years earlier.
Sara and Matt are a perfect match for so many reasons. They are both Irish, and they share a love for travel, great food, and delicious wine. They are also big sports fans. Unfortunately, they will have to overcome their divided household during football season, when Matt (albeit from Pittsburgh) will be rooting for the Ravens. But like Sarah, we won't hold that against him.
These two celebrated their marriage at the exquisite Oakmont Country Club. 'I Do's' were exchanged in front of an iconic custom backdrop. The first dance was shared outside on the greens. An Irish band played during cocktail hour to honor their heritage. White orchids and candles adorned the ballroom and added to the modern and contemporary ambiance. LUXE outdid themselves in bringing Sarah's vision to life. Thought, intentionality, beauty, meaning, creativity and so much style went into every single component of the day.
Every detail was a dream come true, but nothing more than seeing these two radiant souls become one. Congratulations to this iconic duo: Dr. and Mr. O'Brien!
